Even more MAGAt winning.
Have they finished making America great yet? I’m not sure how much more greatness the nation can handle.
We deserve it. We know what we did.
Exports in May decreased 5.2 percent
Compared to what?
If it’s compared to April it could be seasonal, if it’s YOY however, chances are much bigger it’s actually significant.
But 5.2% declining sales measured in USD that also has declining value, is probably bad no matter what.Somebody asking the right questions.
I think this is the source data: https://www.bea.gov/news/2025/us-international-transactions-1st-quarter-2025-and-annual-update
It seems like it is “seasonally adjusted” data. It remains to be seen if it’s a blip or a trend though. It could have been spikes from uncertainty (e.g. buying lots of goods ahead of the tariffs).
Kind of Ironic this is made in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Considering Trump also abandoned Ukraine, despite USA promised to support Ukraine for giving up their nukes, in case of an invasion.
IDK about others, but I’m maintaining a hard boycott of American goods, including goods made in EU buy American owned companies.
Just today I bypassed Coca Cola and bought the “cheap” local brand instead, despite Coca Cola was on special offer at a VERY low price way below the local brand.
Coca Cola has been on sale for at least 3 months straight, at a price just below the local brand!
I’ve also seen Californian wine on special offer for 1½ month in our local supermarket, such special offers are usually 1 week maximum.
Lots of American brands are discounted almost constantly, Heinz and Palmolive basically EVERY time I’m at the supermarket, but with different products.
Turns out our main brands of conditioner although they have local names and are made in France, are also owned by American companies! But I found a good European brand at our local hardware store of all places.
I hope many Europeans are making at least some effort to avoid American owned and American made goods. Personally I’m 95% all in. For instance we also sold our American stock. If there is an alternative, American is simply no longer an option.
One thing I can’t replace is Steam. I use Linux, and Steam just makes it so goddam easy to run games in Linux. Some of the games are American too, but ONLY because they are good companies, I do NOT play games from Blizzard or EA and the likes of them.
A surging deficit sounds like a double negative. It’s a little confusing what exactly they mean by the title.
The rate of down goes up.
This is the normal way to talk about changes in deficits and surpluses in English, and it’s not ambiguous, although it may look that way initially. In everyday speech, a “deficit” already means a shortfall or a negative amount. When we say a “surging deficit,” we mean the size of that shortfall is increasing. We generally treat deficits as only positive or zero (never negative), and if it flips, we call it a “surplus” instead.
But tariffs were going to fix that, right?
I’m finding this all quite ironic
Offtopic, I found this page from that page, and the contents are goofy. AI? A whole of slashes and a couple of words repeated thousands of times.
