Today’s game is Super Mario 64. I guess i’m on a N64 binge because Me and my best friend downloaded sm64coopdx which is a Multiplayer mod for it. We ended up playing through the entire game today. I got this Screenshot of him as Peach whooping bowser’s ass (in actuality Toad ended up having to do it because he kept missing all the shots).
Moments earlier though i tried using the BLJ to get to the top earlier and beat Bowser (for fun). I ended up doing it. Me and my best friend (who was Daisy at the time) got into a PvP match though and i BLJ’d up to the top of the Stairs so he couldn’t reach me. He pointed out that it’s not fair since he can’t BLJ after me, so i ended up trying to teach him. He never did learn, but her certainly tried.
Because i beat Bowser using the BLJ, we headcannoned that our legit attempt at the fight was Toad going back to just fuck with Bowser while he was trying to leave (we’ve also Headcannone’d that N64 era Toad is just a Psychopath, i mean listen to him. We think something Happened between N64 Era and Gamecube era that just… mellowed him out), and Peach tagged along for revenge. Poor Bowser was probably sick after being spun around so much.
The end credits were interesting, because Toad and Peach were inside eachother, not to mention Peach kissed Peach. Towards the End i guess Toad’s model went into the crouch position for some reason so his Mushroom Cap thingy was sticking out of her feet.
This was the first time my friend ever played Super Mario 64 to completion. Though a non vanilla experience wouldn’t be my first choice for a first playthrough, i was honored to be able to show it to him since it’s one of my favorite 3D Mario Games (Though, for me personally the competition list isn’t very big. No offense to Sunshine but it’s just not for me and i’m neutral on odyssey). We ended up being up way later than usual today trying to get the last few stars to beat it.
I’m honestly surprised we beat it so fast though. I guess it’s because we had 2 people working simultaneously to get stars, along with the Mod not automatically booting people out of the Level when beating it.
Still, i’m not complaining, it’s one of my favorite 3D Mario Games. I can sit through it for hours and not get bored. Mostly because it’s such a core 3D Mario Game. It’s one of those games where if i was Stranded on a Deserted Island with Video Games? This is one of those games i’d consider bringing with me.
I’m with you, Mario 64 is one of my all time favorites.
i still play it every few years and sometimes I’ll get the urge to watch the latest world-record speedrun, it’s so much fun to even just watch.
pretty much the only game i do that with.
great screenshots too. there are so many mods for SM64 but I almost always play vanilla, so it’s fun to see you guys as different characters.
SM64 Toad is a psychopath for sure.

I learned to speedrun this but stopped from intense wrist/lower arm pain. I wasn’t great but I could do a sub 20 16 star and pull off breezeless occasionally. Never topless.
It’s still fun to play casually. I have an N64 so I’ll go get all 120 stars every couple years.
